Abstract:
Presents the results of an exploratory study to assess the needs for child support among custodial food stamp households that receive neither AFDC nor Medicaid and evaluate options for meeting those needs. Examines two policy options: a mandate requiring custodial parents to participate in the Child Support Enforcement Program as a condition of Food Stamp Program eligibility, and improved outreach requiring state food stamp agencies to provide CSE information to custodial parents and facilitate their application to CSE.
